wait a sec! so, senator Joe is pushing for Iraq to split among Shia, Sunni, and Kurd? I am not sure it is wise. Put yourself in the shoes of Iraqis who just care about Iraq as one country.

      Of course it's not that easy...but we have to recognize that most of the borders in the Middle East were probably drawn by colonial powers. Maybe they'll choose to fully reuinite, maybe they won't. It's time other powers that be stayed out of it.

      nothing worth doing is easy. And I'm not trying to blow off your concerns. You are wise to question, and isn't it great that we live in a country that you can do so without reprocussions? Anyway, this plan is, in my opinion anyway, more of a uniter than a divider because it keeps together the kind of people who are alike and, more importantly, it attempts to find a way to stop the fighting. Nothing can be worse than continuing the fighting. Nothing can be worse than being dead. And I'm not talking about our soldiers - I'm talking about all the Iraqis who are dying every day from this war. That's the biggest shit and mess of it all. Anything that will stop it is ok by me.
