wow i still have a lot to learn...i didn't know peter gabriel was in genesis back in the day. bands were a lot more incestuous than i initially realized.
Glad to enlighten you :-) Peter was very instrumental (no pun intended) in the early success of Genesis, garnering attention with his theatrical makeup and use of props. Many purists relish this particular chapter of the band's evolution as being the birth of true progressive rock art form, culminating with the very esoteric production of 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway', practically a one-man show by PG - as he had conceived all of the lyrics quite independently of the band's music. This caused a schism in the band leading to Peter's exit to pursue the freedom of solo creativity.
