The most enjoyable aspect of The Devil's Delusion is that Berlinski is every bit as militant in his theism as Dawkins and company ever thought about being in their atheism, and he is clever and witty to the point of providing the reader with several full belly laughs.

Barack Obama delivered a major foreign policy speech in 30-minutes to 200,000 enthusiastic onlookers and supporters at the base of the “Victory Column” - the Siegessäule in the middle of a roundabout called the Grosser Stern in the Tiergarten Park - Berlin’s sprawling park in the center of the city. When a reporter asked the senator if he considered the address a campaign event, he said with a puzzled look: “As opposed to?” “It’s not a political rally,” he added. “Hopefully, it will be viewed as a substantive, articulation of the relationship I’d like to see between the United States and Europe. I’m hoping to communicate across the Atlantic the value of that relationship and how we need to build on it.”The entire text (added bonus pictures also from the Berlin Speech), to the Obama Berlin speech is down loadable at end of this narrative.

FTP: "The Awakening began in Anbar Province more than a year before the surge and took off in the summer and fall of 2006 in Ramadi and elsewhere, long before extra U.S. forces started flowing into Iraq in February and March of 2007. ....This is not controversial history. It is history that anyone trying out for Commander in Chief must understand when there are 150,000 American troops stationed in Iraq. It is an absolutely essential element to the story of the past two years. YOU CANNOT GET THIS WRONG. Moreover, what is most disturbing is that according to McCain's inaccurate version of history, military force came first and solved all of our problems. If that is the lesson he takes from the Anbar Awakening, I am afraid it is the lesson he will apply to every other crisis he faces including, for example, Iran."

FTP: Any change in the legal definition of human trafficking attacks the fundamental integrity of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) and will severely undermine our government's ability to battle what is now an international trade in children and women. Senators Biden and Brownback have taken a courageous stance to protect women from modern-day slavery. Their bill expands our country's commitment to protect vulnerable women and girls beyond the historic efforts to which our government dedicated itself with adoption of TVPA eight years ago. "
