With a new social approach to advertising, Facebook hopes to present marketers with unique and coveted advertising opportunities, but there's a real risk that Facebook users, who already pretty much ignore ads, will not take kindly to passively shilling with their feeds.

This year's primary season, spanning six months, proved that online buzz and activity can translate to offline, on-the-ground results. Indeed, the web has been crucial to how Obama raises money, communicates his message and, most important, recruits, energizes and turns out his supporters. His online operation is the envy of strategists in both parties, redefining the role that an online team can play within a campaign.

After 10,000 plus years of safe, effective, affordable botanical medicine, the federal governments of various countries have decided that enough is enough. With the "encouragement" of the white collar criminals in the pharmaceutical industry, the white collar criminals in government are drafting new laws to "protect" the Canadian public from herbs and food supplements. Herbs will be put in the same class and regulated the same way as pharmaceutical products. Estimates are this will result in 70% of currently available natural health products removed from the market. And your backyard garden? You may not be permitted to grow herbs for medicinal use any more. Too dangerous without government regulation to protect you, don't you know. Impossible you say? DuPont and others succeeded in turning a plant that provided an essential industrial raw material - hemp - into an outlaw in order to eliminate it as competition for its own products. The drug companies can do it to mint and camomile too.

unbending - At last i get around to putting up some new music - here is the track i have recorded with the unbending trees, called overture. it will be released on strange feeling as a digital single on 29th september, and the album "chemically happy (is the new sad)" will be out on october 6th, and you really can't be without it. no, seriously, you can't.
meanwhile, progress on my new album consists of me having had dinner with ewan pearson! hurrah! we did manage to at least have a conversation about the next bit of recording, which will happen in the autumn, and by then things will be really taking shape.
and also this week i am meeting up with jens lekman, to do something or other. there will be a guitar, and a mic, and jens with his laptop, and who knows what may come of it. a number one single possibly. or an obscure b-side. you don't really have b-sides nowadays do you. pity really, they were always our best tracks.
