Have you ever felt that you are losing control of your body in a common situation like speaking in public? Or have you felt your legs give away just before you were to address a very crucial business meeting? This condition may be termed as anxiety if you continue to experience it even after a long time. Repeated symptoms of stress, losing control and occurrence of “what if” thoughts in similar situations can mean that you are suffering from the problem of anxiety. The problem of anxiety is not fatal; no one has ever died due to anxiety. Still, it can be a big obstacle in the normal course of your living.

Our Stellar Spirit Award is conferred upon Ngawang Sangdrol, a Tibetan nun who paid for her protests in favor of religious freedom and the freedom of her country with imprisonment and torture at the hands of the Chinese invaders.

Born in 1977, she was arrested for the first time in 1987 when she was 10 years old, and then again in 1990 when she spent nine months in prison without any formal charge. She was only 13. She was arrested again in 1992 (at the age of 15) for peacefully demonstrating for Tibetan independence and against the Chinese occupation of the country. She received significant international attention because her sentence has been extended several times. She has spent almost half of her life in prison.

Like the generals in Burma who knew about the cyclone and purposefully did not inform the population, it seems that the Chinese regime was well aware of the catastrophe which its population was about to be subjected to. It seems that they don’t care about the population.

Or worse, are their deaths just a studied method in containing population growth?

Athletes in the Beijing Olympics should use the platform they provide to speak out against China's continued human rights abuses, according to John Amaechi, an ambassador for London's successful 2012 bid who today takes on a similar role with Amnesty International.

Amaechi, who was raised in Stockport but made his name at the pinnacle of American sport in the National Basketball Association, will travel to Beijing as Amnesty's official sporting ambassador.

If we thought the crackdown in Tibet was due to the upcoming Olympics, we underestimated the Chinese dictatorship. They have plans.

In an interview with the Guardian on 23 May, the Dalia Lama has declared to have received information from a "military source" in Tibet that after the Olympics, the Chinese government has a plan; “1 million Chinese are going to settle in the autonomous region of Tibet… Then the very basis of the idea of autonomy becomes meaningless.” Tibetans in Tibet have also informed the Dalai Lama that larges pieces of land have been marked out in the last 2 years, seemingly for purposes of construction.

Sudan: The Sudanese government renewed its use of scorched earth tactics and continued to arrest suspected rebels in Khartoum. All sides have threatened increased violence in Darfur and central Sudan, while the shadow of a renewed North-South civil war looms on the horizon.
Democratic Republic of Congo: Violence against civilians continues, but clashes between armed groups are declining. The presence of extremist Hutu militias and increasing scandal among UN peacekeepers threatens this promising progress.
Somalia: The security situation is deteriorating as civilians are increasingly caught between government troops and rebel forces. Conflict parties have increased belligerent rhetoric as the prospective peace talks broke down.
Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo: Former Congolese Vice President Jean-Pierre Bemba has been arrested on charges of war crimes committed in the CAR and DRC.
