According to data from Nielsen Monitor-Plus, wireless phone companies spent $4.1 billion on advertising last year – up 12% over 2006. More than one-third of that total went to broadcast-network television (up 30% to $1.4 billion), with cable gaining 20% year to year in second place ($814.6 million), followed by spot television (up 15% at $627.5 million).
