  • Is this foundation sponsored by Iranian government? i hope not. Knowing the that government, I doubt this money goes to any of these women. Would you associate your links to a group or groups on searchles so I can track it? You will receive more traffic on it once posted under a group - as long as it is a related group. If you can't find the right group for your postings, you can create your own. Just FYI. Thanks
    • Dear Gambo If you take a look at our website, you will see that all the Foundation's activities are funded through private fund raising (99% in Europe). The 'Friends of Omid' foundation is a UK registered charity that we have created for the sole purpose of raising funds to use for the operations of the 'Omid-e-Mehr' foundation, which is the charity we have registered in Iran to operate our current center as well as future centers. It is difficult to find funding for such a project in Iran. Disadvantaged girls are stigmatized which makes private fund raising difficult in Iran due to cultural prejudices. Our approach which empowers these girls and makes them self-sufficient members of society is so contrary to the policies of the current Iranian government that they would never consider either funding an organization like ours, nor setting up similar organizations themselves. The scale of this problem in Iran is huge. It will take many organizations like ours if the problem is to be tackled effectively. Best Marjaneh Halati
      • Marjaneh - Have you talked to anyone in Iran Heritage? I beleive they are also based in the UK? I wish I could help I am short in fund myself. I forwarded this to a few people I know.
        • Dear Majic - Nice to hear from you - The Chief Executive of Iran Heritage is my partner; unfortunately Iran Heritage focuses exclusively on culture and history Best Marjaneh PS: Tell your friends about OMID
  • Anyway, I forwarded this to a few Iranians I know living in NY. I think they might be interested. Best of luck
  • As Gambo suggsted, post this under relevant group. You get more exposure.
    • Dear Phassan - I am not very good at technical matters - How do you identify (or create) relevant groups - Can you help? Best Marjaneh
      • It is pretty easy. I was the same way when I started using searchles. To join a group, simply click on group from the navigational bar and then do a group search. Enter a few keyword for the desired group and hit search. You see a list of groups. Pick the right one and join. Then edit your post and add it to the group you just joined. As for a group related to this particular post, I did not see anything close to it.So, I created one called IRANIAN FOUNDATIONS. Simply, do a search for it and join. Then save this post under that group. Let me know if you have any difficulty.
      • Well, I just added this to Iranian Foundations group. I suggest u joing that group anyway.
