iam sure u know more than me as a dutch person.. from where should i start !! from Van Gogh untill now?? well Holland is one of the most important countries in europe (talking just about art now).. ofcourse number 1 is ROMA PARIS and BERLIN.. the 3 of them r on the same lever of the power of art.. then next is Holland or amesterdam and roterdam,, and i guess that young dutch artists now most of them left paintings and went to video isntallation so its hard now to find a dutch artist who still painting on canvas considering it as old fashion or they believe that old schools are gone or finishd.. but u can see in paris and roma they r still painting and alot of them dont believe in installation..holland is going very fast into (am not sure how to say it in english) into WHAT AFTER CONTEMPORARY ART.. wich is untill now just experiments no body knows if there is continues for it.. but in Roma Paric NYC Cairo and berlin u can see all kinds of art..this is what i noticed in Holland ..i hope iam wrong !!
yes i agree with you if you are talking about big names in museams and galleries, yes they are all doing installation now but also you can find comercial artists are still paintings for living maybe.
am talking about a movment as u asked me ..about proffisional artists not comercial..also i heard that the goverment in holland even in denmark the Royal Academy of fine art they stopped teaching paintings !! its all video installation now.. u know art historians r holding the movment in their hands and most of them are prof. in universities thats why .. anyway it was nice to chat with u today.. thnx and goodnight..
