    couldn't agree more!! excellent cause. anyone who champions it can be forgiven for politicizing - mammography saves lives, period!! great post!

    excellent post. what a great cause for Joe to champion. one big problem i have is that there are only a few companies permitted to provide full field digital mammography. The NIH spent $25m validating digital full field mammo and the FDA had a unanimous panel recommendation to move the FDA approval process to a 510k - ie a fast track approval (120 days or so vs years and millions of dollars). that was 18 months ago. Hologic which spent $30m shutting down one major competitor, Fischer, is dominating the market with GE are making huge margins. There are lots of equivalent or indeed better technologies waiting in the wings. Let's hope the FDA get their tail in gear and generate their guidance document SOON. That will help a rapid proliferation of full field digital mammo and save lives. Again, great post!!

      Thanks Joe and Sarge, and good morning! Have a great day. Yes, Joe has taken a giant step here and quite a different one in his campaign. He has this thing about getting "up close and personal" in his campaigning, and I think it may work for him.
