Hippies Wail for Dead Trees
Note: Forest conservation is important, but some people go a little overboard. Screaming in the woods is not helping; try going to therapy.

Could a spy satellite identify any of us from our shadow?
Note: Spy satellites could soon be able to identify someone from space by looking at their shadow. They would use a computer program that searches for the movement of shadows on the ground, and then identifies their owners from the way they walk.

Comcast, Panasonic Demo Interactive Cable
Note: At the CEDIA Expo in Denver this week, Comcast and Panasonic are demonstrating a 50-inch plasma TV with built-in tru2way technology linked interactively with the local Comcast cable system. Bob Perry, senior vice president with Panasonic Display Company, said, “A tru2way television is actually a computer of sorts. When you activate your television on a local cable TV system, it downloads a Java application that executes on the TV.”

U.S. Internet Traffic Grows By 53% From Mid-2007
Note: Compared with the same period, Internet traffic in the U.S. increased by 53% from mid-2007 to mid-2008. That figure, while still high, represents a dip from the 61% recorded for the previous 12-month span. According to Web tracking firm TeleGeography, Web service providers have kept the pace by providing more bandwidth, and long-haul Internet traffic uses only 29% of the available bandwidth.

Travel Insurance
Note: You know how your mother always tells you to wear clean under wear in case you’re in an accident, that’s kind of what travel insurance is like. You have to have it just in case because should something unfortunate happen (cross your fingers, turn in a circle three times to the left and spit on your right shoe for luck) you are really going to want to be covered for it.
