Note: Starz Entertainment announced it will no longer use Vongo, a broadband subscription video service, to stream movies. Starz will discontinue the service in September, and stopped taking new customers as of August 1. Vongo offered subscribers unlimited movie viewing from over 1,000 titles for $9.99 per month. Note: Current, which launched three years ago as a cable channel and Web site produced by and for its 18- to 34-year-old target demographic, has started experimenting with a limited number of video ads to generate more revenue. Ads for Big Oil are out, as Current Media strives not to offend its core users. Current’s Amanda Zweerink said the site’s number of users has grown quickly, rising from 250,000 monthly unique visitors in Oct. 2007 to 4.5 million in July 2008. tags: video ads

Steele will oversee the development and production of a range of programming, including shows developed through a partnership with HBO. The comedy Web site was formed by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. Note: AOL Video has relaunched with access to more than 200 million videos and a new feature designed to help find relevant clips, along with new advertising opportunities. The relaunch focused on allowing users to browse, search and play back videos more quickly. AOL Video is the only portal with video syndication deals with all four major networks and the only one to strike an agreement with ESPN.
