Should the sports world replace human umpires with computers
Note:
Disputes over line calls used to be one of the main joys of tennis”this, after all, is John McEnroes game. But fans rarely see players explode in rage anymore. In high-profile matches (i.e., those broadcast on TV), human umpires have largely been replaced by a machine called Hawk-Eye

Biden, others hit the airwaves to counter Palin - Yahoo! News
Note:
FTP:Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden was dispatched to the television morning shows to deliver the response. The Delaware senator complimented Palin on the skillful delivery of a tough speech and repeatedly called Palin a competent and tough opponent. Biden, speaking from Virginia Beach, Va., on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," quickly added: "Last night, what we heard was a lot of partisan attacks and no real solutions."

Travel Insurance
Note:
You know how your mother always tells you to wear clean under wear in case you’re in an accident, that’s kind of what travel insurance is like. You have to have it just in case because should something unfortunate happen (cross your fingers, turn in a circle three times to the left and spit on your right shoe for luck) you are really going to want to be covered for it.

Sarkozy Says Iran Takes `Major Risk,' May Cause Israeli Attack
Note:
Sept. 4 (Bloomberg) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Iran is taking a ``major risk'' in developing a nuclear program that may provoke an attack by Israel. ``Iran is taking a major risk in continuing its process of obtaining nuclear weapons, which we are certain is happening,'' Sarkozy said today in Damascus, Syria. ``One day, whatever the Israeli government is, we can imagine ourselves one morning with an Israel which would have attacked. That would be a disaster.''

Poll-Watch: Obama Gets Biggest Bounce Since '96 Convention; Firms Up Support Among Clinton Voters; Voters Divided on Palin Pick | Election 2008 | AlterNet
Note:
"Depsite the right's attempt to paint him as a latté-sipping elitist, Obama appears to be far stronger than McCain on the question of whether he "understands the needs and problems of people like yourself?" By a 63-31 margin, a majority of registered voters believe Obama understands their needs (+32 points), while only 41 percent believe McCain does (against 48 percent who believe he doesn't, a spread of -7 points).

McCain's Health Plan Only Works If You Don't Get Sick | Health and Wellness Part 1 | AlterNet
Note:
FTP:"He has proposed something called a Guaranteed Access Plan (GAP), which most closely resembles the high-risk pools that have become dumping grounds in thirty-four states for sick people insurers don't want...If the goal is to provide coverage that works and is affordable, there's no evidence that risk pools have done that. They've done just the opposite." Coverage tends ...to be twice as high as standard rates in some states. Deductibles may be high; in Arkansas, they can reach $10,000.

If We Want Good Health Care from Obama, We Better Push Him to Change His Plan | Health and Wellness | AlterNet
Note:
FTP: The plan is naive, at best, and probably disingenuous when it insists that we can coax these corporations, which are listed on the stock exchange and exist to maximize profit, to transform themselves into social service agencies that will provide adequate health care for all Americans.~~~~~~~I want with all my heart for him to win this election, but he's got to get his act together with this one. 'Course, McCain's isn't any better. Read the next one.
