In The Event of Collapse, I Am NOT Eating Rat
Note: Can you picture yourself eating rats to survive? Sounds crazy, but believe it or not there are countless examples of people doing just this. This seems pretty far removed from a television set, a football game, and some steaks on the barbeque. But what would it take to get YOU there? The truth is it wouldn't take much. If you're like most people in America all of your subsistence needs, especially your food, come from someone or somewhere else. The ability to eat steak is made by the guy who is raising the cow and then selling the cow. I doubt many of you reading this have ever raised a cow—myself included. And considering the average American consumes nearly twice his or her weight in meat annually (Earth Times, July 1, 1998), I have no idea where I would find 500 pounds of red meat next year if the supply was cut off...
