The Water-Wasting Techniques of Starbucks
Note: I admit that I’m a coffeeholic, and that I occasionally go to Starbucks if there’s no other coffee shop around, but after seeing this video I will no longer buy coffee from this wasteful (and not even very good coffee) company :

Racial Rants About Obama Gets VA Republican Chair Fired
Note: I was raised in Virginia, so when I saw this article I was appauled at what Bobby May, a Republican party campaign chair from Buchanan County, said about Barack Obama in a local newspaper.

Help Get Climate Crisis Ad Shown on ABC
Note: Apparently ABC refused to air an ad during the Presidential debate on Tuesday that was created by the Alliance because it talks about using renewable energy instead of relying on foreign oil and coal. The campaign is trying to get at least 100,000 signatures to get the ad shown during the next 20/20 show.

Why Whine When You Have an Eco-Friendly Winery?
Note: Every time I read news about how green Oregon is, it just makes me want to pack up and move there! Not only does Oregon have America’s first human-powered microgym in Portland, but it also boasts the world’s first winery to use sustainable cork stoppers certified by the Rain Forest Alliance.

4 Simple Green Ideas from a Recent Student
Note: It wasnt that long ago that I was a student, and I was using green ideas as a simple way of saving money. As a student, money is really tight, so you need to be economical in order to survive with the smallest amount of debt. So here are my top ideas that I used when I was at University.

Note: I recently stumbled upon a fascinating video on YouTube that describes the threatening impact of climate change on the environment. It also shows how we got into our recent oil crisis, but also gives us hope that we can choose the right Presidential candidate who will “break us out of our deadly oil habit.”

Northwestern Freshmen Move to Green Dorm
Note: The dorm is called the Group Residence for Environmental Engagement at Northwestern (GREEN), and it’s the most sustainable building on the Northwestern University campus. But some freshmen who didn’t sign up to live in a green dorm are being place in the eco-friendly building…much to their surprise.

Cake: The Band’s Own Easy Bake Recording Oven!
Note: Not only does the band Cake have great songs, but they also follow great green initiatives. They recently hired the Borrego Solar company to install solar panels on their recording studio in Sacramento.

Breathing Earth: Simulation of Earth’s Carbon Dioxide Emissions
Note: I recently stumbled upon one of the most amazing websites I have seen in a long time. It’s called Breathing Earth, and it’s a simulation of the carbon dioxide emission levels of every country in the world.

Better World Club: Green Insurance and Travel
Note: I recently came across a company that advocates environmental awareness and cleanup by offering alternative car insurance, roadside assistance and travel plans that are affordable, responsible and eco-friendly.

The Queen Goes Green!
Note: According to an article in The Earth Times, Queen Elizabeth II has recently bought the world’s largest windmill for an undisclosed amount (which I’m guessing is ridiculously expensive).

Note: SustainLane is one of the largest websites devoted to sustainable living, so its only proper that they would conduct a study on 50 of Americas biggest cities. Each city was ranked by its sustainability practices, which include: quality of air and drinking water, roadway congestion, local food availability and park space.

It’s Time You Got an Eco-Friendly Yacht
Note: I’ve never had a yacht. I’ll never have a yacht. But one thing I do have is a desire to own a yacht that I can take out on the weekends to sail away from the stress of reality. What would be even better was if the yacht was eco-friendly and ran on solar and wind power.

British Columbiaҳ Sewage-Free Building
Note: Did you ever think that a 30,000 square-foot building could run on composting toilets and waterless urinals? Well, thats exactly what the C.K. Choi Building is doing. Part of the University of British Columbia, the C.K. Choi Building is proving that it can save 14 times as much water as a regular office building.
