Foreclosure Properties Snapped Up by Foreign Bargain Hunters
Note: Foreclosure properties are being snapped up by foreign investors in bulk, based on a report from the National Association of Realtors. The strengths of other currencies against the American dollar and the bargain prices of foreclosure properties have been driving the increased sales.

Bank Listing Foreclosures Drive Home Sales in Florida Keys
Note: Bank listing foreclosures have been driving house sales in the Florida Keys, based on October home sales data from a local real estate brokerage. Overall home sales climbed up by 18 percent to 3,666 units in October.

Pet Shelters in Central Valley Increase Euthanasia Rates
Note: Pet shelters in the Central Valley of California have been increasing their euthanasia rates because of the overwhelming increase in number of less adoptable animals being brought in for adoption. Nationwide, about 2 million animals have been abandoned by pet owners since the start of the recession.

Charlotte Foreclosed Homes Drag Down House Prices
Note: Charlotte foreclosed homes helped push up house sales, but dragged down home prices, according to the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association. The average price of homes in October fell by nearly 10 percent to $196,204.

Bank Homes to Arise from 350,000 Exotic Mortgages
Note: The rise in bank homes in the next few years will arise from the 350,000 exotic mortgages taken out from 2004 to 2007, according to a report published by S&P. The report stated that more than 22 percent of option ARM borrowers defaulted within 20 months after the issuance of their loans.

Note: The listing of foreclosed homes rose this year in McLennan County, Texas as unemployment continued to force homeowners into default. A total of 1,387 residential units in McLennan were posted for foreclosure auctions this year.

Note: Foreclosed listings in the Dayton metro area in Ohio grew by more than 55 percent in October compared to the previous month. A total of 1,070 foreclosure actions were filed in the area in October.

Note: The percentage of Las Vegas foreclosures for sale that closed in October dropped, but the percentage was still high at 64.5 percent. Foreclosures kept the median sales price at $139,100.

For Sale by Owner – Delay if Possible, Sell Quickly if Not
Note: Prospective for sale by owner sellers are advised by real estate analysts to postpone listing if they can until prices get better. But if they are not able to postpone selling, they must decide quickly because prices are falling.
