Note: NHL players do a pretty good job of policing themselves. Excessive hot-dogging usually brings swift retribution. But Avery is one those special players who enjoys aggravating foes while drawing attention to himself. Who else would do jumping jacks in front of New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur during the playoffs?

Microsoft Releases Browser With New Privacy Options
Note: Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 8, a browser that could put a damper on the advertising model of rivals like Google. The new browser has an InPrivate setting that allows users to access Web sites without revealing their browsing habits, which Web sites need to deliver targeted advertising.

ESPN-SEC Deal Includes Live Streaming
Note: As part of a $2.25 billion, 15-year agreement with the Southeastern Conference, ESPN has acquired the TV rights not yet held by CBS for some 5,500 events, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, Olympic sports and SEC Championships. The agreement includes the right to simulcast SEC games live on ESPN360 and ESPN Mobile. ESPN.com also receives “extensive content rights,” along with the rights to move content to emerging technologies (e.g., iTunes, Xbox Live, PlayStation 3, etc.).

MLB will institute instant replay on Thursday
Note: Major League Baseball reversed its long-standing opposition to instant replay and will allow umpires to check video on home run calls in series that start Thursday, a person familiar with the announcement told The Associated Press.

Is MerchantCircle.com Stealing your Customers or Traffic?
Note: What I did not like is that MerchantCircle.com's listings appeared before my clients own websites. From a business standpoint, this is not good as it may dilute the company’s visitors, provide erroneous information, and take potential search engine traffic away from the company. Not to mention potential trademark and tradename infringement.

Note: Facebook is introducing a way for its members to comment on ads that appear on the site, according to the company’s director of monetization, Tim Kendall. In addition, Facebook is looking into things like advertiser-branded virtual gifts and a way for friends’ actions on fan pages to be distributed in a news feed.

Note: Those Apple Get a Mac ads have long been an annoyance to Microsoft and to Bill Gates in particular. No surprise as an emboldened Apple with rising market share has continued to ratchet up the venomous quips like, fear of switching is the foundation of customer loyalty for PCs.
