Note: As far as marketing hype goes, this is pretty radical. Everyone knows that Ubisoft commissioned their own visual effects specialists, Hybride Technologies, to make a selection of live action episodes as a prelude to Assassin's Creed 2.

Wow Patch 33
Note: Almost a year ago we saw the release of Wrath of the Lich King, the second expansion for World of Warcraft. The expansion's story will soon come to an end with the release of patch 3.3, the final major content patch before the next expansion. With tweaks, changes and a fight with some guy called Arthas, this patch promises to be the biggest, and most challenging yet.

Note: In a grand gesture of good will towards the creative community Epic have announced that they are giving away their much lauded Unreal engine 3 for free. Anyone can download the Unreal Development kit (or UDK) and at under 600mb why wouldn't you?

Note: EA has revealed that a closed beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will launch on PlayStation 3 on November 19th. The beta, which will be available exclusively to pre-order customers, will run for "about a month" according to DICE, and will allow players to try out a single map called Arica Harbour

Note: Aion is the latest fantasy MMO form NCSoft - originally released in Korea in November 2008, it made its way to Western gamers in September of this year. Now that the game has had a month or so to settle in I figured it was time I gave it a try to see if it lived up to all the hype.

Note: What a difference a year makes! The short development cycle may have been controversial to a minority of gamers, but as soon as you sit down with a mouse and keyboard and play some versus multiplayer all of the previous complaints seem to melt away.

Note: Infinity Ward's Mackey McCandlish has said that the prospect of dedicated server support eventually being included in the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 isn't "off the table" and that the team is "always evaluating (their) options".

Note: Activision CEO Mike Griffiths has revealed that pre-orders for its 2009 smash Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 have already set new records for the company - thanks in part to the multitude of different editions available to fans of the series. Speaking to investors Griffiths explained "Call of Duty has been very strong this year with pre-orders and also the special added value units."
