Note: The Australian Grand Prix weekend is about to start. Who will win? Who will make the greatest surprise? Will Ferrari be faster than McLaren? Will Fernando Alonso struggle with Renault? Will Williams be actually the “best of the rest”? All F1 fans want these questions answered, but they are impossible to answer until the chequered flag has come down.

Posted by johnnyutah, at 12:17PM 03/03/08 : Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela going to War?
Note: Could it be possible? After the Colombian army bombed Ecuadorian ground in order to kill Raúl Vargas, the number two FARC terrorist, Venezuela and Ecuador have sent troops to their borders with Colombia. President Rafael Correa (Ecuador) and Hugo Chávez (Venezuela) both have said that Colombia violated Ecuador’s sovereignty by bombing its soil. Chávez even has said that Colombian president Álvaro Uribe is a terrorist and a criminal.

Note: Why did I come to Germany? Many of my students ask me. Well, I thought, why not. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like the U.S. with it being my native land and missing the temperate weather and wide open roads. But something about Germany is unique to me, the preservation of its history with its castles, churches and old fortresses that date back to the Middle Ages. tags: bakery

Posted by johnnyutah, at 04:23PM 01/22/08 : Hugo Chavez only cares about himself
Note: President Chávez only wants to show off. Of course, he is a populist. Dictators always need a bit of populism in order to maintain their dictatorship. But Chávez is clever: he is also playing populism to the international community tags: no tags groups: in International Relations, International News

Note: Texas has executed last month its 400th prisoner since 1982. I know a lot of people in America don’t understood why the Death Penalty is so expensive. It is purely because our system, as it is shaped today, simply doesn’t work well. tags: death penalty

Note: I am amazed at how unwilling Americans are to give up their cars. The primary reason why people need cars in, North America especially is because of a total decentralized system that has been lead by many American cities. tags: san francisco

Note: Living in Germany makes me reflect on the past few years or more when I got to know the country through my present wife. When I first met her I had only come to Germany as a tourist. Like a kid in a candy store I had to try every single kind of bread from Sechskornbrot to Zwiebelbrot and every single pastry from Zuckerschnecke to Apfeltasche. I had acquired coming back and forth from the U.S. to Germany an assortment of souvenirs as well especially the Ampfelmann parafanalia which was a past relic from former East Germany of a signal man appearing in red and green indicating whether one should cross the street or not.

Note: Tourism operators have called on local authorities to issue a regulation to impose better garbage and waste management on Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta.
As environmental awareness was low on the two islands, measures must be taken to solve garbage and waste problems there. Those measures should include the recycling products.

Note: When I was young and of a slightly simpler mind, my favorite TV show was Batman: The Animated Series. I watched lots of episodes and relished the opportunity to tout my extensive knowledge about a single incarnation of this ancient American demigod. I watched, ignorant to the history and creative genius behind it yet enthralled by the imagery. I was engaged. The kind of engagement I ritually smashed up with adolescent cynicism some years ago. Today, as somewhat of an adult, I consider my tastes sharpened and my arrogance neutralized. So, I guess that makes me a discerning viewer. tags: television groups: in Media and Content
