Video Game Industry Pursues Pirates In UK
Note: Five of the world’s top video game developers have demanded payment from thousands of households in the UK that have obtained the latest titles over the Web without paying. The companies involved – Atari, Topware Interactive, Reality Pump, Techland and Codemasters – have served notice on 25,000 people, requiring each to pay £300 immediately to settle out of court.

TripAdvisor Invests In Vacation Home Site
Note: TripAdvisor has announced that it has made a majority investment in FlipKey, a guest review site for vacation home rentals. Launched only last March, FlipKey covers 50,000 vacation rental properties in the U.S.

Yahoo Opens Buzz To The Public
Note: Yahoo’s social news site and “meme tracker, Buzz, has opened up its submission process so that any Web site can now be “buzzed.” Much like Digg and other social news sites, Buzz allows users to vote on (buzz) stories to increase their visibility.

Hulu Tops 100 Million Streams In July
Note: According to data from Nielsen’s VideoCensus, Hulu reached 105 million video streams in July. The five-month-old Hulu – a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp. – has enlisted Miami-based Crispin Porter + Bogusky to design an ad campaign to increase awareness of the site.
