Trim Castle
Note:
On the south side of the Boyne River rises a magnificent stronghold, Trim Castle, the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland. The castle was constructed over a thirty year period by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter. Hugh de Lacy was granted the Liberty of Meath by King Henry II in 1176 in an attempt to curb the expensionist policies of Richard de Clare, {Strongbow}.
The Castle is also known for the part it played in the filming of the Mel Gibson directed film Braveheart.

Phoenix Park, Dublin
Note:
The Phoenix Park is the largest urban enclosed park in Europe. The main entrance is about 3 km (2 m) from Dublin’s city centre. It is about 11 km (7 m) in circumference, so it takes a bit of effort to get around the whole park. It contains large areas of grassland, tree-lined avenues and many areas of dense forest.
The park is home to a herd of wild Fallow deer. The deer have right of way on the roads through the park. Seeing the herd of Fallow deer is an integral part of any visit to the park.

Glendalough
Note:
When you are in Dublin you should make an effort to see Glendalough, early Christian monastic site founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century. Set in a glaciated valley with two lakes, the monastic remains include a superb round tower, stone churches and decorated crosses.
The present remains in Glendalough tell only a small part of its story. The monastery in its heyday would have included workshops, areas for manuscript writing and copying, guest houses, an infirmary, farm buildings and dwellings for both the monks and a large lay population. The buildings which survive probably date from between the 10th and 12th centuries.

Galway tourist attractions
Note:
Galway is one of the most vibrant Irish destinations, with pubs and restaurants, arts, crafts and culture, regardless of what time of year you visit. Although classed as Europe’s fastest growing city, it still manages to retain much of its Medieval charm.

Newgrange
Note:
Newgrange is the best known Irish passage tomb. It was constructed around 3200BC, this makes it more than 500 years older than the Giza Pyramids in Egypt and 1,000 years more ancient than Stonehenge. The passageway has an amazing feature: although built from roughly-hewn rock, it is aligned in such a way that the rising sun shines through the roofbox, down the passageway, and lights up the central chamber on the morning of the Winter Solstice (21 or 22 December).
