Posted by Political Grind , at 08:47AM 10/25/06 : To Debate, or Not Debate: Voters Deserve to Hear Candidates Before Election
Note: The status of Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant Governor, Catherine Baker Knoll, has emerged as an important issue in the state’s gubernatorial race.
Democrat Knoll, who is in her mid-seventies, has served in this post for three and a half years after serving eight years as the state treasurer. Knoll has become known for her occasional mishaps and is now being blasted by her Republican opponent for refusing to debate prior to the November election.......... tags: debate democrat pa vote candidate groups: in Politics, U.S. Politics, Political Opinion
Posted by Political Grind , at 04:01PM 10/11/06 : Foley Scandal Shows True Nature of the GOP
Note: Former Florida Rep. Mark Foley’s perverted instant messages sent to underage pages are disgraceful and disgusting. It is a shame that people who occupy such important offices show such little restraint with regards to their perverted desires. While Foley’s actions are far more disappointing than Bill Clinton’s, it is one more account of people that we trust to represent us--letting us down through sexual indulgence. tags: foley

Posted by Political Grind , at 01:22PM 10/05/06 : American Economics for Dummies: A Response to Economics 101
Note: Initially I was going to post a good and long comment in response to yesterday’s publicly submitted piece that boasted about the successes of the Bush tax cuts. However, once I had eclipsed a few hundred words in that comment, it became clear to me that a full article was more suitable. Without further ado, here is the real truth about our economy; opposed to the conservative, right-wing, sugar-coated fairytale that you all read about yesterday. Also, I will cite my sources, and better explain the terminology used.

Note: I'm not pushing for a he said, she said type of argument. However, I am going to say that Republicans haven't really offered anything new about fighting terrorism except elevating the terror threat and overt threats about how America will be weakened by a Democratic-controlled Congress. Call the Rovian frames for what they are… LIES!!!!.... tags: economy

Note: One more time I cleared my mind and hoped for substance; for the courage to offer a new direction. In the back of my mind where hope still lives, I thought that the five year mark since 9/11 and the knowledge of things gone awry abroad would finally bring the President into reality. Sadly but not surprisingly, Bush again used the most powerful office in the land to offer nothing but rhetoric.... tags: iraq

Note: There is an election in the US shortly that will be partially determined based on immigration policy. There are many views on this subject and politicians on all sides of the issue. Those who want to have an amnesty for all, those that want to deport all illegal immigrants, and those that would like to build two walls across our nation, one on the Mexican border and one on the Canadian border.... tags: policy

Note: This past week in the United States Senate, four members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, with the backing of three former chairmen of the Joint-Chiefs, opposed President Bush and his lackeys’ personal pleas to sign off on the legislation that would narrowly define how the United States should be obligated towards Article Three of the Geneva Convention.... tags: legal
