Google In Final Negotiations To Acquire Digg For “Around $200 Million”
Note: Google’s on and off negotiations with Digg have been back on in a big way for the last six weeks, we’ve heard from multiple sources inside of Google, and the two companies are close to a deal that will bring Digg under the Google News property. The acquisition price is in the $200 million range, says one source.

AddictingGames Aims For Community Building
Note: Nickelodeon’s AddictingGames, a gaming site that targets teens, plans to turn its site into more of a community for teen players. CNET reports that AddictingGames will soon allow visitors to create member profiles and buddy lists. It will also include the ability to see a high-score list among friends who play the same games, along with an IM application. According to comScore, AddictingGames attracted its largest audience of about 10.7 million monthly visitors in the U.S. in June.

Note: MTV has launched a new social network in beta form called Soundtrack. The site’s song and artist selections are based largely on selections featured on the cable network. Soundtrack’s features include a music discovery “wheel” that tells fans when they can see and hear their selected artists; 2,300 band profiles at the outset; and a Soundtrack ranking system featuring top artists and songs in the community.

Google Testing Digg Like Interface with Voting Features
Note: Google has been seen testing a Digg like voting search results page and it looks like it is not a hoax as first thought. I first saw this and we all believed it to be a hoax since it was on a web designers blog that has extreme Photoshop skills. Then TechCrunch reported it and added credibility and now a post on the Google labs page explaining it more.

Baby Center Launches A Social Network
Note: www.babycenter.com has unveiled a social network that allows parents to create profiles, share photos and videos, blog and create private groups. The new service – built on Baby Center’s acquisition of Maya’s Mom last year – will enable brands to sponsor topics or groups to gather consumer information.
