Note: Organisms could get energy through chemical reaction releasing hydrogen. Hydrogen is the cleanest and most abundant fuel there is, but extracting it from water or organic material is currently not a very efficient process.

Note: Researchers in Massachusetts are working on a technique to turn heat gathered by asphalt into useable energy via water pipes. Their paper, released this week at the International Symposium on Asphalt Pavements and Environment in Zurich, posits that asphalt roads could be better than solar panels in gathering energy.

Google Investing Over $10 Million in Geothermal Energy

Google.org, the philanthropic arm of Google, announced today that it is investing $10.25 million in an energy technology called Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). The funding will also go towards geothermal resource mapping, information tools, and a geothermal energy policy agenda.
