Hot Asphalt as Better Energy Collector than Solar Panels?
Note:
Researchers in Massachusetts are working on a technique to turn heat gathered by asphalt into useable energy via water pipes. Their paper, released this week at the International Symposium on Asphalt Pavements and Environment in Zurich, posits that asphalt roads could be better than solar panels in gathering energy.

The T. Boone Pickens Profile You Haven't Read | Newsweek Project Green | Newsweek.com
Note:
FTP: "Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who once said he considered Pickens his "mortal enemy," will host him this month at a clean-energy summit in Las Vegas, along with Bill Clinton. Even Al Gore, who has his own proposal to wean the U.S. power grid from fossil fuels within a decade, pronounced the Pickens Plan "respectable" last month."

Wonk Room » Global Boiling: Fay’s Floods Are A Wake Up Call
Note:
FTP: Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) has described Tropical Storm Fay as a “serious, catastrophic flooding event,” as it dumps “historic levels of rain with totals in excess of 20 inches already” in Brevard County. Fay is tracking over the entire state of Florida, devastating crops and causing hundreds of millions of dollars of damage.~~~~~~~~~Um, how many wakeup calls do we need? Anyone with a monsoon, tsunami, tornado, flood, etc. out there to further convince?
