Note: Instead of sidelining the fight against climate change, the global credit crisis could hasten countries' efforts to create "green growth" industries by revamping the financial system behind them, the U.N. climate chief said on Friday.

Amazing photo of Milky Way like youve never seen it before
Note: It looks like a lunar landscape but this remarkable photograph actually shows our Milky Way and the planet Jupiter in all their glory - viewed from a cave in Americas Utah desert. The spiral galaxy, which cannot be seen with the naked eye, was captured using a 35mm camera and 50mm lens on a tripod with a 30-second exposure.

European Union Bans Incandescent Light Bulbs
Note: EU energy ministers meeting in Luxembourg have given final approval to an EU-wide ban on incandescent light bulbs. The switch to energy-saving bulbs, first ordered at last years Brussels summit as part of an ambitious energy policy to fight climate change, was approved this past week at the negotiations leading up to a meeting of European heads of state, held next week. Note: I admit that I’m a coffeeholic, and that I occasionally go to Starbucks if there’s no other coffee shop around, but after seeing this video I will no longer buy coffee from this wasteful (and not even very good coffee) company :

Note: Richard Garriott, a U.S. space tourist due to travel to space on a Russian spaceship on Sunday, said he was unfazed by the prospect of a bumpy ride back to Earth, saying he expected to land safely.
