Australian pokes shark in eye during attack
Note: An Australian swimmer survived a great white shark attack by poking the creature in the eyes as it dragged him through the water after badly savaging his left leg.

90210 officially on the CW map
Note: It's official -- the CW on Sunday picked up the "Beverly Hills, 90210" spinoff to develop as a series. The network also renewed "The Game," the comedy about a group of women who are married to professional football players.

22 dead in Mo., Okla., Ga. after more storms
Note: Stunned survivors picked through the little that was left of their communities Sunday after tornadoes tore across the Plains and South, killing at least 22 people in three states and leaving behind a trail of destruction and stories of loss.

Note: As the Steve Miller Band marks the 40th anniversary of the release of its first two albums, it will release its first DVD, "Live From Chicago," a three-disc set due May 20.

Note: Like most people in Mingo County, West Virginia, Leonard Simpson is a lifelong Democrat. But given a choice between Barack Obama and John McCain in November, the 67-year-old retired coalminer would vote Republican.

Note: Cablevision on Saturday appeared likely to prevail in the bidding for Newsday, people briefed on the matter said, after the News Corporation, controlled by Rupert Murdoch, pulled out of the running.
