Note: Acknowledging that consumers are losing interest in auctions, eBay will change its fee structure to emphasize fixed pricing instead of bidding. Starting in mid-September, the company will reduce upfront fees for sellers who offer items at a fixed price.

Note: Without the aid of a record label, music veterans David Byrne and Brian Eno have released their first new collaborative album in 20 years: Everything That Happens. The duo worked with Santa Monica, CA-based Topsin, which developed engagement and e-commerce capabilities for the album’s Web site. Those who want to buy the digital album can do so for $8.99, but Byrne and Eno are encouraging fans to share their site’s streaming player for free by embedding it on their Web site, blog or profile.
