Note: Hulu has started adding full-length HD versions of TV shows – including episodes of “The Office,” “24,” “Heroes” and “30 Rock” – to its lineup. The episodes are presented in 720p but may be scaled down to 480p depending on the user’s connection speed. The episodes are ad-free for the time being. Hulu allows users to edit and embed HD clips for use on their own Web sites. tags: hulu

Note: AOL, the New York-based Internet firm that maintains the bulk of its operations in Dulles, has acquired Colorado-based Socialthing, developer of a social networking news feed service designed to help users trace the Internet activity of friends, according to a report in TechCrunch. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Socialthing, which has been operating in private beta mode since last year, reportedly raised $300,000 in funding last fall. The news comes following AOL's recent launch of AIM BuddyUpdates, which lets users of the company's AIM instant messenger follow the activity of their buddy list members on social networking sites. tags: social networks
