Mac Designer Andy Hertzfeld Looks Back at 25 Years of Mac
Note:
Steve made zero technical contributions. Hes not a technical person, so sort of his main contribution was setting the goal, setting a very high goal, and then being really passionate about exceeding the expectations, you know just trying to make every single conceivable aspect of the product as brilliant and creative and wonderful as possible.

Comcast Places Limit On Subscriber Bandwidth
Note:
Effective Oct. 1, Comcast will limit its broadband subscribers to 250 gigabytes of data per month. That amount, according to Multichannel, equals roughly 62,500 digital songs. According to Comcast, the cap is “much more than a typical residential customer uses on a monthly basis.” In fact, the median monthly usage by those customers is about two to three gigabytes.

Google Unveils Android Store
Note:
Google has unveiled its response to Apple’s iTunes App Store with the launch of its iPhone: The Android Market, which will sell programs for the Gphone from T-Mobile, along with every other mobile device that uses Google’s mobile operating system. The Google Android developers’ blog says, “Developers will be able to make their content available on an open service hosted by Google that features a feedback and rating system similar to YouTube. We chose the term ‘market’ rather than ‘store’ because we feel that developers should have an open and unobstructed environment to make their content available.”

McCain chooses Alaska Governor Palin as vice president - 3rd Update
Note:
Washington - Republican presidential hopeful John McCain announced little-known Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential candidate on Friday, a choice that brings strong conservative credentials to the ballot. Palin, 44, was a surprise pick because of her low profile in national politics. But her addition to the ticket could help McCain win the support of the Republican right that has been skeptical of his candidacy. "I found someone with an outstanding reputation for standing up to special interests and entrenched bureaucracies," McCain said during the announcement at a rally in Dayton, Ohio.
